Gen 5:25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech
Gen 5:28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:
29 And he called his name Noah,
If we add 187 yrs,age of Methuselah at Lamech;s birth and 182 yrs the age of Lamech at Noah’s birth, we get how much older Methuselah was than Noah. which adds up to 369 yrs.
Gen 7:6 And Noah [was] six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
If we add the age of Noah during the flood, which was 600 yrs to the age difference of Methuselah, and Noah which was 369 yrs, we get the age of Methuselah at the time of the flood which was 969 yrs, which was the age of Methuselah at death.
Gen 5:27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.
Question; Did Methuselah die in the flood?
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Compare these two passages. To be “filled with the Spirit” is the same as to “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly”.
Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.
How come no one I know will admit to the spirit of God, and the spirit of Jesus lives personally within their body,
Because it is a representative indwelling of the Spirit in us through or by the word of God. The only thing here that could possibly live in the human body is the word. The word lives within our memory bank, our mind.
Do God and Christ literally indwell the saints? Surely you can recognize this as figurative language.
But yet there are those who insist that the holy ghost lives literally within the Christian body. That would not only make the holy spirit subject to the human, it would by necessity make the holy spirit smaller than the human body. No one can live in a home smaller than themselves.
The scripture most often referred to, to confirm their belief is Acts 2:38 which is not even figuratively suggesting indwellment.
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Jhn 20:2 And when he had said this, he breathed on [them], and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
If Peter meant “Receive ye the Holy Ghost”: why did he not say it like Jesus said it.
instead he said ” receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
This is why Peter said it as he did. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The gift Peter was speaking of, is the same gift spoken of in Rom 6:23.
The simple truth is that whatever the Holy Spirit does for anyone today is accomplished with and through the revealed word of God.
And prayers answered from Heaven, not from within.
Throwing a fitYes when we come humbled before God, God forgives, and rescues us from ourselves.
The “church” today seems to have the opinion of “well I was baptized, now it is up to God” , my responsibility has been met. Let the “holy spirit” God gave me, as a gift,at baptism do what God intended for “him to do, SAVE ME”
Where does the command to “repent” enter the picture, If one truly does as God commands and repents of his or her sinful ways he gives us a renewed spirit, a holy spirit, one that strives to follow Jesus Christ, renewing the sinful spirit that once loved the ways of the world. It is still you, just a changed you. I have the same spirit God gave me as a newborn, but I hope it has changed over the past seventy years. Jesus said the spirit of a child is holy, that is before the things of this world has slowly crept in and corrupted it.
1Pe 1:3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Yes just as Peter said we are born again, sinless. But our work is not over at baptism, far from it, it just begins in earnest.
1Pe 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1Pe 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1Pe 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning [here] in fear:
Peter, doesn’t say well you have been baptized, so you can rest easy now. Instead in my opinion Peter said the work has begun, you are started on the path of salvation.Be careful not to return to your former self. Your contribution consist of more than furnishing a sinful person for Jesus to wash clean, your work is not over.
1Cr 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
The Trinity Doctrine , as written is a shaky Foundation for the Christian Faith.
What is the Trinity Doctrine? In a nutshell, there is one God, eternally existing in three persons:Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and Holy Spirit. The three persons of the Godhead are coequal and co-eternal.
The Trinitarians want to make the three separate persons distinct and having different roles in the trinity at the baptism of Jesus. They say the Father is not the Son, The Son is not the Father, and neither the Father or the Son are the Holy Ghost.
The Nicaea Creed read as follows:
I believe in one God: the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God: begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, through whom all things were made. . .
As we see they made a distinctions between the “three” as well.
The Athanasius (Trinitarian) Creed was finally established in (probably) the 5th century. It was not written by Athanasius but adopted his name. It stated in part: “We worship one God in Trinity . . . The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God; and yet they are not three gods, but one God.”
Individual distinction once again.
The Trinity Doctrine is not taught anywhere in scripture, but trinities were common in Paganism andwere prominent in Egypt and Babylon. The beginnings of recognition of this doctrine started at the Council of Nicaea approximately 325 AD. Hundreds of years after the last book in the Bible was written.
The Trinity Doctrine says that God is made up of 3 persons, the Father, the Son and the HolySpirit. But the truth is that there is only one true God who has revealed himself to us in three ways.
Trinity Doctrine – How Can We Comprehend It? (This is how it was explained to me.)
The most difficult thing about the Trinity Doctrine is that there is no way to adequately explain it.The Trinity is a concept that is impossible for any human being to fully understand, let alone explain. God is infinitely higher than we are, therefore we should not expect to be able to fully understand Him. The Bible teaches that the Father is God (Exodus 3:14), that Jesus is God (John8:58), and that the Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4). The Bible also teaches that there is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4; James 2:19). How these two statements of doctrine can both be true is incomprehensible to the human mind. However, this doesn’t mean that they’re both not true.
This is not my explaination, this is that of one who believes in this doctrine. And they are right, it cannot be explained, if you make the statement in the way it was made. But if we say God is The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit/Ghost. Then it is not so difficult to explain, is it?
The Church at Brook Hills, in Birmingham, Alabama, The congregation is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. sees it like this.
“The eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.”
Southside Church of Christ in Mineral Wells Texas, sees it like this.
“There is only one God. He is the creator of all life and the supreme ruler of the universe. God is asingle person who shows himself to men as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God loves us more than we can imagine and passionately desires a relationship with us.”
I fully agree. With both. Southside, and Brook Hills.
God, is one God who revealed himself to man in three ways, In his work/creation, in his word/Jesus, and prophets, in his love, and power / holy spirit.
Seems simple to me, not hard to understand at all. God is the Creator, The Word, and the HolySpirit/Ghost.
When the Southern Baptist, and The Church of Christ agree on something, it is hard to “kick”against.
How does Jesus speak today?
Mat 8:5 ¶ And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
Mat 8:6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
Mat 8:7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
Mat 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
This is a good example of how Jesus spoke in the day of his travels on earth. Does Jesus speak in the same fashion today as he did then? no, he speaks through Christian believers.
Does Jesus personally place the words in the mouth of the believer? no, God places the recollection of his word in our minds. And we speak what we recollect, just as the apostles were promised by Jesus, God will bring to recollection, what his son Jesus had spoken in person.
Why does Jesus depend on Christians today to speak his truth?
Mat 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Bible study and understanding becomes very important in the life of a Christian, why, because how are we to speak God’s truth if we have never heard it, or we don’t accept it.?
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Mat 7:24 ¶ Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
What Jesus is saying here is, (I never knew you, because you never took the time to know me, I never said what you heard, and you don’t do what I did say)
Now how can we represent Jesus Christ to our fellow human beings, if we don’t know who he was, and what he said, or if we know what he said but we don’t trully believe it?
Jer 5:21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:.
We need to listen to what Jesus said, and not what we wish he had said.
